Salary: £32,000 per annum + opportunities to earn additional pay through extra shifts

Contract: Full Time

Location: Downpatrick, Northern Ireland

Our Client is recruiting compassionate, resilient and dedicated Residential Youth Workers to join their therapeutic children’s residential home in Downpatrick.

About the Role

 

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will:

 

Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.

Provide high-quality therapeutic care within a safe and nurturing home.

Support young people with their daily routines, education, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Promote positive behaviour using trauma-informed approaches.

Help young people develop confidence, resilience and essential life skills.

Work closely with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding policies are followed at all times.

Create a warm, stable and supportive home environment where young people can thrive.

 

Working Pattern

 

Average of 38 hours per week

Two sleepovers per week on average (alternating between two and three sleepovers over a two-week rota)

24-hour shifts consisting of:

16 hours active support

8-hour paid sleepover

Opportunities to work additional shifts and increase earnings

 

Essential Criteria

 

Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with children or young people who display challenging behaviours.

Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People’s Services, Youth Work or another relevant discipline.

Full UK or Irish Driving Licence held for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.

Ability to obtain an Enhanced Access NI check.

Willingness to register with, or already registered with, the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).

 

Desirable Criteria

 

Degree in a relevant subject.

Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma and complex or pain-based behaviours.

Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed care practices.
