Position: Catering Assistant (2 Vacancies Available)

Contract Type: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Hours: Up to 30 hours per week (5 days out of 7, including weekends)

Job Summary

We are seeking two motivated, reliable, and hardworking Catering Assistants to join our catering team at Causeway Hospital, Coleraine. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality food and beverage services to patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation & Service: Assist with basic food preparation (sandwiches, salads, snacks) and serve meals to patients, visitors, and staff in line with dietary and allergen guidelines.
• Hygiene & Safety: Clean work areas, kitchen equipment, cutlery, and service counters in compliance with Health and Safety and HACCP regulations.
• Stock Control: Rotate stock, replenish fridges and counters, and monitor stock levels to minimize waste.
• Customer Service: Provide friendly, prompt, and courteous service to all hospital personnel and members of the public.
• General Duties: Dishwashing, clearing trays, and assisting with food deliveries across hospital wards and retail areas as required.

Shift Details

• Work Pattern: 5 days out of 7 (Rotational roster including weekends and public holidays).
• Shift Times:
  • Morning Shift: 07:00 – 13:30 (6.5 hours per shift)
  • Afternoon Shift: 13:30 – 19:00 (5.5 hours per shift)

Requirements & Qualifications

• Age: Must be 18 years or older.
• Availability: Must be available to start immediately and work flexible 5 out of 7 shift patterns.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to hygiene standards.
• Desirable: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) or previous catering/hospitality experience (training will be provided).
