Support Services Supervisor – Band 3
Location: Daisy Hill Hospital
Directorate: Acute, Functional Support Services
Hours: Between 7am–8pm, Monday to Sunday (rota-based)
Contract: Permanent/Temporary (as applicable)
A new opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Support Services Supervisor within the Domestic Services team at Daisy Hill Hospital. This role is essential in ensuring high‑quality environmental cleanliness, catering, and portering support across designated hospital areas, contributing directly to safe, patient‑centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit & monitor standards of environmental cleanliness and catering services, ensuring action plans are completed.
- Supervise staff work schedules and ensure duties are carried out effectively.
- Oversee specialist, discharge, terminal and isolation cleaning.
- Monitor ward kitchen standards, including food and equipment temperature checks.
- Maintain and order cleaning materials, catering stock, chemicals and consumables.
- Ensure all stores and equipment are kept clean, safe and secure.
- Report and record faults, incidents and accidents promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Food Hygiene, Waste Management and Colour Coding procedures.
- Support staff training, uniform audits, and maintain training records.
- Assist with rota planning, arranging cover, and completing timesheets.
- Support the management of disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence processes.
- Handle complaints in line with Trust policy.
- Build strong working relationships with Ward Managers and Department Leads.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer or patient service role within healthcare or hospitality.
- Willingness to complete Level 2 Food Safety in Catering training.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (unless exempt under disability provisions).
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as part of a rota.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising a team.
- IT skills (Microsoft Word/Excel).
- Experience working in an acute hospital environment.
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification
Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Cleaning: 1 year (preferred)

- English (preferred)
