Mental Health Support Worker (Housing Support)
Location: Kilkeel (Magheramurphy)
Contract: Fixed Term- Until end of May

Role Overview
This role supports individuals experiencing mental health issues to live independently and improve their wellbeing, using a recovery-focused approach. You will help service users maintain tenancy, reduce isolation, and engage in their community while promoting both mental and physical health.

Key Responsibilities

Service User Support

  • Deliver person-centred, recovery-focused support plans
  • Support independent living skills (e.g. cooking, budgeting, daily living)
  • Promote mental and physical wellbeing, including healthy lifestyle activities
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
  • Support individuals, carers, and families where appropriate
  • Assist with activities, community integration, and reducing social isolation
  • Provide personal care where required

Safeguarding & Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks to service users and others
  • Safeguard individuals and maintain professional boundaries
  • Support safe medication management where required

Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and client documentation
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and confidentiality
  • Follow all organisational policies, health & safety, and regulatory standards

Team Contribution

  • Work collaboratively, contributing to team development and mentoring
  • Participate in training, supervision, and continuous development
  • Promote the services values (passion, respect, empathy, openness)

Service Delivery & Improvement

  • Support service development and continuous improvement
  • Assist with financial monitoring and resource management
  • Contribute to fundraising and organisational initiatives where required

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Understanding of recovery models, safeguarding, and risk management
  • Ability to work flexible shifts (including weekends, nights, and lone working)

Additional Information

  • Shift-based role (may include waking/sleep-in nights)
  • Flexibility to work across services if required
