Part-Time Cook (16 hours per week, 7-day rota)

About the Service
our client is a 24/7 supported accommodation service delivered in partnership with Radius Housing. It supports individuals with a history of homelessness and street drinking, operating on a harm reduction model. The service provides in-house catering for up to 23 residents.

Role Overview
The Cook plays a central role in delivering nutritious, home-cooked meals tailored to varying dietary needs, contributing to the health and wellbeing of residents. The role also ensures high standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and compliance with Environmental Health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks (up to three meals daily)
• Cater for specific dietary requirements and develop meal plans where needed
• Monitor residents’ nutritional intake and liaise with staff
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and HACCP compliance
• Manage food purchasing, stock control, and budgeting
• Maintain accurate kitchen records and follow procedures
• Support team activities, meetings, and training
• Ensure compliance with the service policies (Health & Safety, confidentiality, etc.)
• Contribute to a supportive, team-based environment

Requirements

• Level 2 Food Safety in Catering (or willingness to obtain)
• Minimum 1 year’s experience in a professional catering environment
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
• Ability to cater for diverse dietary needs
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of homelessness and associated challenges
• Flexible to cover shifts as required
